Walking isn’t exercise.
I highly recommend you spent 10-60 minutes walking everyday if you have a desk job.
Walking is physical activity.
Physical activity is any movement that you do throughout the day.
Exercise on the other hand is planned, structured, repetitive and intentional movement intended to improve or maintain physical fitness. Exercise is physical activity, but physical activity is not necessarily exercise.
It’s like a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square.
Exercise is massively important to your overall health, but exercise pails in comparison to proper nutrition habits and a high level of physical activity.
You probably are wearing some sort of activity tracking.
Test this out on your own.
Compare a day when you had a particularly tough workout, but spent the rest of the day sedentary like sitting at home or at work with a day you were active and moving around they whole day.
You’ll see a significantly higher energy expenditure on the active day.
Again I can’t stress enough the importance of exercise, but if you really want to make a difference in you health I recommend looking for more ways to move during the day.
Walking is great, but finding active things to do is going to change you.
Most people think they the main reason they have gained weight is because their body is older and therefore slower.
Age does play a small roll, but the truth is that they are just less active than they were when they were younger.
Look at the kids, teens, or young adults you know. Look at their lifestyles and how actively they are on a daily or weekly basis.
Look for ways to add activity back into your life.
You will be happier, have more energy, look better, and feel better.
